United Cricket Club (Counties Manukau) Incorporated Reserves/Senior B Chargers v Karaka Cricket Club on Sat 22 Jan 2011 at 4:20pm
Match was Abandoned (Due To Rain).

Match report United CC's Discount Panel & Paint Reserves beat Waiuku in the last round-robin match of the CMCA Reserves Twenty20 Tournament at Bruce Pulman Park, finishing as joint-second on 12 points with Weymouth, but could not make it to the final against Manukau due to a lower Net Run Rate (NRR) than Weymouth whose NRR improved markedly after their crushing win over Puke Metro in their last league match. The final standings at the end of the round-robin stage were as follows:
1. Manukau 20 points
2. Weymouth 12 points
3. United 12 points
4. Karaka 8 points
5. Puke Metro 8 points
6. Waiuku 0 points

All the positional play-offs were abandoned after a few overs into each game. United were pitted against Karaka in the third place play-off. Skipper Tim Edmonds lost the toss, but after being asked to bowl by Karaka skipper Van, opened the bowling with his "wide assortment" of leg-spin. The match lasted only eleven overs before being abandoned due to rain, at which stage, Karaka were 66 for 2, but it was enough to provide the two highlights of the match - first, Tim Edmonds bowling out Karaka opener Stevie O'Callaghan behind his legs with a ball pitching well outside leg stump & turning enough to take the middle stump (a ball that would have made Shane Warne proud as well); second, young David Prangley (replacing the injured Harish Verma) beating Karaka batsman Brandon every time he bowled to him in his 2-over spell.
