Junior Cricket Open Day/Muster on Saturday, 30th September

23 Sep 2017

United Cricket Club (Counties Manukau) Inc, Drury/Opaheke
Junior Open Day/Muster (Saturday, 30th September 2017, 9:45am to 12:45pm) to recruit Junior players for the 2017/18 cricket season.

Progressive Club with an enthusiastic Committee and a will to develop our Junior programme.

Winners of Year 9-11 (Div 1) Championship, we are particularly interested in boys and girls in Years 5 to 11, but other age groups will also be welcome.

First class Coaching and team management assistance for all of our Junior teams provided.

Low, reasonable subs.

We strive to ensure a fun and educational environment for all of our Junior players.

Our Junior teams play in various Counties Manukau Cricket Association (CMCA) Saturday morning Leagues. CMCA have, this season, introduced some exciting changes to their Year 5-6 and Year 7-8 Grades, aimed at making cricket more practical and enjoyable for Junior players, and their Parents and guardians. These changes include:
Fewer players in a team,
Shorter pitches,
Shorter boundaries,
A dismissal free period and more.

Research from overseas has shown that these changes result in:
Fewer wides,
More balls hit,
More runs and boundaries hit,
More balls in play,
Fewer dot balls,
Can't get out until faced 6 balls, etc..

Best of all (for the Parents), a Year 5-6 game will only last 2 hours, and a Year 7-8 game 3 hours. In other words, kids will have more fun and parents will be happier.

Play for all United Club Junior teams will commence at 8:45 am each Saturday morning.

We are holding a Junior Open Day on Saturday 30 September 2017 at the Drury Sports Complex, Victoria Street, Drury commencing at 9:45 am (see the attached flyer). All interested players and parents are welcome to attend. There will be fun activities (some weather dependent) and information available. Every Junior player who registers and plays with United will receive a brand new match cricket ball to: take home, play and practice with, and keep. In addition, they will also get a "kid" designed Club polo shirt and other goodies. Don't miss out.

We are aware that this is the first day of School holidays, if anyone is unable to attend the Open Day, you can still register online on the Club website: https://united.secure-club.com/default.aspx or follow this link: https://www.crichq.com/clubs/70756/teams. You can call the following for more information:
