Senior A Post Outright Win Over Papakura, Finish As Runners-up In The Two-Day Competition
21 Mar 2009
After bundling out Papakura for 95, United declared their first innings at 163 for 9, taking a first innings lead of 68 on Saturday, 14th March '09. Papakura fared better in their second essay & managed to score 148 all out on 21st March '09, which meant that United were left to chase 81 for an outright win. United's openers, Russell Harvey (60 not out) & Josh Burgess (15 not out), needed just 12.1 overs to knock-off the required runs, ensuring a 10-wicket outright victory for their team. This was United's fifth straight win & they ended-up as the only unbeaten team in the Two Day Competition. Despite this, they had to be content with the Runners Up tag, as Karaka beat Pukekohe Metro outright to finish at the top of the Two Day Competition Table. Although Karaka had four wins & a loss, they emerged as the winners on account of more outright wins than United.
