Senior A Beat Pukekohe Metro By 3 Wickets
21 Nov 2009
Pukekohe Metro won the toss & batted first, getting dismissed for 152 in 43.3 overs. The wickets were shared by Dean Ross (2/35), Thomas Raybould (2/20), Terrence Brookes (2/22), Aaron Rowe (2/12) & Matthew Forrest (2/11). Matthew Forrest is currently on a hat-trick, having snared up two wickets on his last two balls. Puke Metro batsmen found it hard to keep the ball along the ground, as is evident from the fact that all ten dismissals resulted from catches, with Matthew Mudford getting four & Dean Ross three of them. Lawrence Minchinton suffered an injury after bowling six overs & could not take any further part in the game.
During their chase, United lost opener Josh Burgess (9) early, with the score reading 11 in the 7th over. Thereafter, although there wasn't any big partnership, almost all the United CC batsmen chipped-in with useful contributions to enable their team outscore Puke Metro with 9.3 overs & 3 wickets to spare. Skipper Matthew Mudford (28) & Terrence Brookes (26) were the major contributors, while the other contributions were from Dean Ross (15 not out), Aaron Rowe (12), Neal McIntosh (12), Rick Eastham (11), Dean Ross (9 not out) & Matthew Forrest (7). For Puke Metro, K. Avison (7.3-2-23-3) was the most successful bowler.
