United CC Senior A opening batsman Josh Burgess, JB to his mates, scored a chanceless 112 not out against Weymouth CC Senior A on the first day of their two-day match at Weymouth on Saturday, 9th January '10. JB made the grass wicket his own, using his feet regularly & playing most of his shots in the "V" as his effort, combined with supporting knocks by Aaron Rowe (53), Fraser White (24) & Matthew Forrest (21) earned vital batting points for the team, taking the team score to 221/5 from 69 overs.

United CC bowlers, unfortunately, ended the day in a bit of a toil, being able to grab just a solitary Weymouth CC wicket, conceding over a hundred runs in the process. Thomas Raybould was the successful bowler, while skipper Harley Bayliss bowled a fairly accurate & economical spell to keep the Weymouth CC reply in check.
