United CC all-rounder Adam Dunn turned-in a brilliant all-round performance to be the main contributor in Discount Panel & Paint Reserves' first-ever Twenty20 win against Karaka at Bruce Pulman Outer Oval on Saturday, 8th January 2011. Adam removed Karaka's top four batsmen in an extremely accurate bowling spell of 4-0-14-4 to put Karaka in a spot of bother from which they could not recover as Damien (3.1-0-27-4) got rid of the next four batsmen and Matthew Forrest wiped the tail off with 1-0-4-2. Karaka got bundled out for 82 in 13.1 overs, with Andrew (19) & skipper Van (10) being the only batsmen to get into double figures, while extras (21) contributed over a quarter of their score.
United, deeming the target to be an easy one, shuffled their batting order, but were soon in trouble as make-shift opener Michael Chapman (0) got run-out in the second over at 4/1. A couple of good shots by the other opener Priyankit Bangia (8) and a few wides by Van (2-13) took the score to 15, when Matthew Forrest (0) edged a wide one from Van to make it 15/2. Three wickets fell at the score of 17, as Priyankit got run out and Ross (1) and Billy (0) committed the same mistake as Matthew Forrest. Deepak Bhakoo (1) and skipper AJ Stewart (22) saw-off the dangerous Navjot (4-2-9-1) and took the score to 27 when Deepak tried to cut a widish leg-spin from Stevie O'Callaghan (4-0-8-2) that was spinning further away & ended up with the faintest of faint edges that was easily taken behind the stumps. At 27/6, when United's chase seemed to be in trouble, AJ was joined by Adam Dunn & the pair took the score to 47 in the 12th over when AJ departed, getting caught off Andrew (4-0-29-1). Tim Edmonds (3) could not give Adam company for long & the score read 52/8 after 14 overs. The 15th over proved to be a key one as Adam & Dylan took 13 runs off Andrew's last over to bring the required run-rate down from 5.17 to 3.6 runs per over and then carried on batting sensibly in a risk-free manner, overhauling Karaka's score in 18.2 overs. Adam Dunn remained unbeaten with a vital 16, while Dylan remained not out on 11 to fashion United's 2-wicket win & put them on the Points Table.
