Tour Report from the Tron

11 Apr 2011

It was Friday 8th April, a fairly quiet night, until 16 rowdy lads turned up at Murphy's Law, for a weekend of fun, drinking and a tour that will go down in history as the best 21st Tour ever for the club.....

After being briefed by our tour leader / and skipper Harley, we all received our "Killer Packs", and were told the rules for the weekend. From here we jumped in the rental van, well most of us, and headed south.

Timmy, our tour driver didn't even get out of Murphy's without stalling the 12 seater bus....and he hadn't even had a drink!!!!.

We headed towards Two Fat Cows, where Harley had arranged for some Red Bull and Jagermister shots for all except the drivers and the younger lads. At this point, appointed Sherrif for the tour, Rick the Bison, blew his goat horn, and within a moment, whistles, blowers and clappers were stunning the local crowd at TFC.

Then a song, a catchy song was sung in superb fashion. (to the theme of the Flintstones Music)
United, were United - we are a cricket club in counties - from the south of auckland - we are the greatest club in - history - batting and bowling is what we do - fielding and drinking too - United - were united - were the greastest club in history!!!

After all this was completed, we headed south to the Muddy Waters pub, where the young lads had a few games of pool, and the senior lads had a few more beers, and the odd flutter on the pokies. Yet again, Bison blew his horn, and the locals were to hear the lovely voices of United's Cricket  Choir sing in harmony AGAIN!.

Heading south again, with DJ Timmy on the music, and DJ Bison in assistance, we were to have the bus rocking, sounding more like a soccer game from the european town of Barcelona....Arriving at Tauprei Pub for another stop on the way to Hamilton. Yet again, another song was broken into....

Arriving at our accom in Hamilton at about 10pm (well done BJ, great hospo) we were to locate our rooms. Heading up to the bar to watch some rugby and spend some time with the hosts. Bed was for some by early hours....

Some of the members were awoken by Harley at about 715am, were some decided a coffee run was in order. Finding nothing open until 8am, the boys went on a tour of Hamilton, which resembled a ghost town at 740am in the morning.
After getting coffee and breakfast items, Chef Tim cooked up a great bbq breaky for all, with the help of LOAF and its supplied products.

Heading out, we ended up at Action Indoor Cricket, where we played a fairly fierce game against fellow team members.

After the game, we ended back at the motel for some cricket and lunch.

Lunch came and went, and the boys drove out of Hamilton to our next activity, which was Paintball.
A great time was had by all at the paintball range, especially the free for all at the end, which saw Mel Matty Forrest go down to a Mexican stand off and get pettled with paintballs from the remaining man... A big congrats go out to the green team who thrashed the blue on points....

Heading back to the motel for a bbq dinner and a fine session, with most members heading into town.

Sunday came with a bbq breaky and a quick tidy up and a group photo. Heading back to Murphy's for a debrief and a quick beverage.

A big thanks go out to Harley, Rick, Mike, Tim and to all who made the weekend a huge sucsess.
