It must be a very much relieved Shane O'Neill, skipper of the United CC
Discount Panel & Paint Marauders as they ended their run of
NO win results (on the field) so far this season against Waiuku on Saturday.
Batting first, those to shine for the Marauders were Ollie Muir for both registering his second half century of the season and his second against Waiuku. This effort was ably assisted by a mid-order cameo knock from Dave Bradshaw which saw the team total amass to 168 all-out.
In reply, Waiuku pushed the Marauders very close and were within a dozen or so runs but came up short.
At last the Marauders' bowling and fielding showed some long-awaited resilience, and came through to take the win on the day. Well done Shane and the boys!
'THE PAW' has it on good authority that one of the more "Ever Green" Marauders bowlers had a defining moment in his career thus far when he bagged his first 5-Wkt bag for the club, this not only gets him a mounted ball but also records his name with the elite on the club bowlers' Honours Board.
Well done Rick Eastham, just like it is with a good red wine it takes time for it to mature!!
Question : Is this result the turning point for the Marauders? Can they continue with their winning ways??
Question : How did Rick 'The Bison' Eastham get his nick name??
Question : Will our Skipper Shane O'Neill grow a good scalp of hair, now the
"Monkey is off his back" by the Marauders' win on Saturday??
Question : Was Mike ' The Super Mario Moustache` Bongard's mo really a worthy winner of the club's Great Movember Mo-Off ???...Or is it a conspiracy waiting to be found out???
These and many more questions need to be answered......???
Signed......'
