Counties Manukau Cricket Association (CMCA) has announced a significant change in the
Reserves grade draw for 2011-12, which will take effect immediately.
Karaka CC had entered a team in the competition, but defaulted their first few matches owing to lack of sufficient player numbers before
withdrawing from the competition at the start of the second round, leaving just five teams in the draw, one of them forced to have a bye each week.
Mauku CC, which had not originally entered a team in the competition at the start of the season, has enough players and
has entered the draw with immediate effect. They will commence their season with a match against Pukekohe Metro at Colin Lawrie Park on 17th December 2011. Their entry has ensured that the draw now comprises an even number (6) of teams, thereby eliminating the bye out of the equation in the One Day Competition.
Things will be a bit different in the
Reserves Twenty20, though, with
United CC Discount Panel & Paint Marauders withdrawing from the three-week long Twenty20 Competition to be held in January 2012. Mauku's entry and the Marauders' withdrawal has left the draw with 5 teams, which means that each of the remaining five teams will now have a bye at some stage of the competition. The United CC Harxin Corpn Crusaders will be United CC's flag-bearers in the competition.
CMCA has updated the the respective draws for both the competitions,
One Day and
Twenty 20 on its website. The draw relevant to the
United CC Harxin Corpn Crusaders and the
United CC Discount Panel & Paint Marauders has been updated on this website as well and can be viewed by clicking on the
FIXTURES tab and selecting the relevant team.
