Waiuku Dark Blue v United Cricket Club (Counties Manukau) Incorporated Auto Plus Senior B/Reserves Thumpers on Sat 08 Dec 2012 at 1:00 pm
United Cricket Club (Counties Manukau) Incorporated Won By 116 Runs.

Match report United CC Harxin Corpn Crusaders' skipper Deepak Bhakoo won the toss & elected to bat first.

After a solid start by the openers, Ronit Ghaiee (26) & Navpreet Saini (16), who added 41 before Navpreet spooned a return catch to Marty on a slower ball & a 21-run partnership between Ronit & skipper Deepak Bhakoo (10 with one four), the score was soon 71 for 4. This was followed by a 63-run partnership for the 5th wicket between Simar Bahl (21 with four fours) & Bharat Oberoi (36 with four fours and a six), to take it to 134 for 5. This provided a perfect platform for the #7 Siddhartha Roy (26no with two fours and a six) & #9 Pindu Domeli (22no with two fours & two sixes) to show how devastating they can be with the bat. They made sure the team crossed 200, Pindu earning a new middle name "LUSTY" in the process, having hit 22 runs from the first 5 balls he faced, containing two fours and two MASSIVE sixes that were high & long, clearing the long square boundary by a good 15 metres.

The bowling unit was even more impressive. Kamal Sîngh (6-0-13-3) started the proceedings with Bharat Oberoi (6-0-25-1), followed by Simar Bahl (who bowled unchanged for 8 overs) and Navpreet Saini (5-0-14-1). Simar was the most impressive of the lot, as after conceding 15 runs from his first 2 fruitless overs, his next 6 overs read 6-5-1-4, finishing with 8-5-16-4. Once Simar was bowled out, Bharat came back to finish his quota & grabbed the last wicket to finish with 8-0-35-2. Manpreet Singh had to be content with 2-0-10-0, while Deepak, Siddhartha Roy, Pindu Domeli & Ronit Ghaiee were not required to bowl at all, as the frontline bowlers did a sterling job.

The bowlers definitely bowled well, but full credit needs to be given to the fielders who supported them in keeping it tight & exerting pressure on the Waiuku batsmen by drying the runs. Summing up, it was a highly satisfying win, with every member of the team contributing to it in some way or the other! SWEET REVENGE in the grudge match!
