United Reserve One went into their match against Karaka Red (on 7th March '09) without their best two bowlers, captain Shane Lovell & star bowler Thomas Raybould. Stand-in captain Lee Ter Huurne could not win the toss & Karaka Red elected to bat. United's weakened bowling attack still proved to be too strong for the visitors, as they were bundled out for 119 in the 38th over. The bowlers were aided by some sharp ground-fielding, though there were a few unaccepted edges. The bowlers to suffer on that front were Ronit Ghaiee & Josh Anderson. Ronit was very miserly with a spell of 9-2-11-1, as was Liam Jackson with 5.3-2-8-1. The other wicket-takers were Deepak Bhakoo (2/26), Josh Anderson (1/9), Joseph O'Neill-Gregory (1/9), Michael Gordon (1/13), Callum Jude (1/20) & Thomas Halliday (1/22).

After a cautious start, the United openers Josh Anderson & Lee Ter Huurne opened up in the 4th over, scoring 12 runs from it. Thereafter, there was no looking back & the foot remained on the pedal throughout as they added 100 runs in 15 overs before Josh missed one & got bowled. The target was achieved in 17.3 overs, with Lee remaining unbeaten on 48 & Deepak Bhakoo on 3, United romping home with 9 wickets in hand & 27.3 overs to spare.
