Graham Johnson hits massive 6 to bring a win for the Mighty Marauders

20 Feb 2010

Batting first, Manukau City posted a huge 250/5 off their 40 overs. With a steady knock by Mike Bongard (73), and helping hands from Ford (13), Oneill (16), Eastham (31) saw United get to 121/2 at the 20 over mark. With time playing a factor into the game (20 overs still to be bowled at 6pm), United had to increase the run rate to avoid a loss. It was getting close, and with Johnson (23*) and Farnell (13*) at the crease, we needed some magic. Johnson managed to a hit a massive six just when time was called at 7pm to put the Marauders in front on run rate by just 4 runs, at the 36 over mark.
Well done to the Mighty Marauders for a hard fought win, and well done to our newest member Rob Barrett for picking up a wicket and a catch on his debut game for the boys.
